Historic buildings in Neustift
Possession of a home mill was a matter of course in the era of self-sufficiency. In Neustift there were a total of 27 such mills. However, only a few are still in operation, such as the Jedler Family home mill.
The “Schwaighöfe” [historic farmhouses] in Neustift are particularly worth seeing. As permanently settled isolated farmhouses, they designate the uppermost limit of settlement since the 12th century.

Many farmhouses in Tyrol’s high valleys are painted in a typical manner on the outside façade. These paintings were probably created in the Renaissance and Early Baroque era. Biblical depictions are especially popular, and particularly in the Stubai Valley: sculptural painting around windows and house verges.
The old Forster House in Kampl is probably one of the most beautiful and best maintained buildings in Neustift. Here visitors can again find the old appliances, paintings, customs and ways of life. Do not miss out on this opportunity to once again find the past in the Stubai Valley.
